Happy May! If you’re feeling the rush of end of school year festivities, same here! With all the chaos and excitement of all the events happening this month, we can’t forget the most important day, Mother’s Day! Moms do so much and are such an integral part of every child’s life and development. As a result, I thought it would be fun to do a songwriting intervention with mom as the theme. This is a great way to learn about a client’s mom directly from their perspective. The fun part is, you never know what they’ll say, yet that’s the point. Sometimes we don’t realize what sticks out the most to the client. If “mom” doesn’t work in your session/s, you can always substitute any other caregiver who is an important part in the client’s life. This songwriting intervention is sung to the tune of “Mary Had A Little Lamb”. I hope this helps brings in a new perspective (and maybe some laughter) into your session this month. Happy songwriting!
