Our Story
KidLinks, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, began in 1983, when our Founder, Jim Newton, played the guitar and sang for a special little boy in the hospital. That simple moment of connection grew into the vibrant organization that now serves thousands of families each year.

Guided by a deep commitment to assuring the well-being and wholeness of children, Jim developed relationships with Certified Child Life Specialists and Board-Certified Music Therapists, whose advice on how to effectively create and deliver therapeutic music continues to be central to KidLinks’ songwriting, direct services, music, and media resource development.

The KidLinks Foundation
The KidLinks Foundation was formed in 2001 by individuals associated with the energy industry who had a desire to make a big difference in the lives of children in Texas.
Over the years, the organization has expanded its reach to include children and their families across the United States by funding Therapeutic Music Entertainment and board-certified Music Therapy.
Hugworks
For over 30 years, Hugworks provided Therapeutic Music Entertainment (TME) as a direct service offered to children and families in children's hospitals and special care centers across the country.
The program was developed with input and guidance from Child Life Specialists, Music Therapists, and other health/education professionals in fields of early childhood services.
Hugworks also had a long history of delivering board-certified Music Therapy to children in need.
