Getting Into The February Groove

Published by Sara Chigani on: Feb 03, 2021 — Music Therapy

I’m not sure about you, but it always seems like February is when I start to find my groove for the year. January always seems like a rush of things with not much time to feel settled and sort everything out, which I think February is great for. Not to mention it’s the shortest month of the year (hooray!). In keeping with my last several posts with songs to address the new month, I have created a new song for February. Although it’s the shortest month, it’s jammed packed with different events and characteristics to introduce/discuss with school-aged kiddos. In the song I introduce Valentine’s Day, Black History Month, and the fact that spring is around the corner. Not only can this song introduce the events in the month, but it’s a great starting point on events like Valentine’s Day and Black History Month so that therapists can go into further detail throughout the session. Just like the past posts, I created a Boom Card to go along with the song so that kiddos can click along during Telehealth sessions. I have found that pairing Boom Cards with songs works really well, at least with my clients, because not only are they actively listening, but the concept is being reinforced visually as well. Feel free to give this song a try if it works with your client’s goals or adapting it as needed. If you would like the chords to the song or have any trouble accessing the Boom Card, just let us know! Happy February!
