Lately, we’ve had a lot of thunderstorms here in North Texas, especially during bedtime. Because of that, I’ve spent a lot of time consoling, reassuring, and calming my toddler who is a little scared of thunder. So much so it got me thinking about using music to help in situations like this. However, music can really be used to help anyone who needs to calm their nerves or distract themselves. KidLinks has a great collection of music to help when you find yourself or with your kiddos in situations like that. Our “Relaxation” category of songs is so perfect when you need to calm your kiddo/s down. Every situation is different, but in the situation of calming a child down during a thunderstorm, music can help in several different ways. Not only does having music playing help drown out the sound of the storm, but the imagery of the lyrics gives them something else to focus on and helps take their minds off the storm. Playing slow and comforting music helps encourage them back to sleep and helps them feel calm. Think of it like singing lullabies to a baby. The gentle sound of music helps babies feel comforted and soothed. However, you can use music in any situation that requires calming your kiddo down. Encouraging your child to take a break, move to a less stimulated spot, breathe, and listen to any relaxing music can help your child get through their difficult moment. If you are looking for relaxing music you can always stream KidLinks music here 24/7, free of charge. I also love how KidLinks created instrumental versions of some songs so that if having lyrics becomes too distracting you can play the instrumental version or leave it on while they sleep, if need be. I’ve also included a short list of songs I like to use in my own sessions with clients. We hope these can be helpful and bring a little calm to work/life.
