The idea for Hippopotamus came to me one day while I was sitting waiting for the students to return from recess before beginning our music therapy session. Like many of the classrooms that I’m in on a daily basis, most of the elementary classrooms, have a rug that children sit on with pictures of animals and the ABC’s. While I waited, I began noodling around on my guitar when I came up with the idea for Hippopotamus. As a songwriter, I never know when an idea may come and sometimes I’m not sure where it will lead. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this rhyming tune and who knows, maybe you can come up with a better ending for Hippopotamus.
