About KidLinks:

KidLinks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to linking kids to healing, hope, and happiness through music therapy programs, therapeutic music entertainment, and online music media. For four decades, KidLinks has provided healing experiences for children with special challenges, funded therapeutic music initiatives, implemented university-level music therapy training, and offered free/low-cost treatment programs for children in need. KidLinks has proudly and positively impacted the lives of over 410,000 children and caregivers.

Job Summary:

The full-time Music Therapist will possess the enthusiasm, skills, business acumen, and demonstrated ability to grow KidLinks’ music therapy program, and contribute to a dynamic, nurturing, and inclusive working environment with our existing music therapists and staff. Under the guidance of KidLinks’ Co-Executive Director of Programs and the existing music therapy team, this individual will assist with researching new partner locations and play a key role in helping to launch a new music therapy clinic location in the DFW area. This role includes program coordination and once site is launched, providing approximately 20 sessions a week of clinical music therapy services for children with special needs. This position starts immediately.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct consultations with interested client families and process new registrations
  • Establish goals for therapy, collecting and analyzing data from the client’s responses to music, and customizing treatment plans for each client
  • Integrate behavioral, developmental, neurological, and/or improvisational approaches into music therapy treatments services
  • Provide emotional support and nurture coping mechanisms
  • Maintain proper and thorough documentation of music therapy sessions
  • Notify families of client’s progress throughout therapy period
  • Faithfully represent and carry out the mission and goals embodied in the KidLinks philosophy and the Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics of the American Music Therapy Association
  • Protect the confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Help set the tone and carry out the vision of KidLinks

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Music Therapy or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in music therapy
  • Board Certification through The Certification Board for Music Therapists
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a MT-BC working with children with special needs and familiarity with a variety of diagnoses
  • Strong music skills with the ability to play and perform on many different types of musical instruments and in a variety of genres
  • Deep understanding of human psychology and knowledge of the principles and methods of therapy and counseling
  • Must possess empathy, compassion, imagination, and patience
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Strong and effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Committed to, and proficient in, serving individuals with special medical and emotional needs

Working Conditions:

  • Position requires an individual to work independently of a structured office environment
  • Position requires reliable personal transportation to music therapy clinic and KidLinks office
  • Position requires an individual to work independently on their caseload (while functioning as part of an existing music therapy team that predominately meets remotely)

Benefits:

This position is full-time and is hybrid (80% in person and 20% remote). Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
